Child Abuse Prevention Training
- One in ten children is sexually abused before their 18th birthday.
- Youth are the victims in 66% of all sexual offenses reported to law enforcement.
- Thirty-five percent of child victims are 11 years old or younger.
4 Children living without either parent (foster children) are ten times more likely to be sexually abused than children that live with both biological parents.
- Children who live with a single parent who has a live-in partner are at the highest risk: they are 20 times more likely to be victims of child sexual abuse than children living with both biological parents.
Whether you are a parent, grandparent, teacher or just a concerned adult, you should learn to recognize the signs of child abuse and how to prevent it. The Carl Perkins Center of Fayette County will be presenting training on how you can recognize the signs of child abuse and how to prevent it. The training will be held on April 30 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at UT Martin in Somerville. The training is hosted by UT Martin of Somerville and is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Somerville.
